An AI assistant for nurses: logs, patient flow and reminders

Procedures and care remain yours. The assistant takes the paperwork that follows: logs, medication sheets, the procedure queue and messaging patients about preparation.

An AI assistant for a nurse: logs, prescriptions and patient handouts
Logs, prescriptions and patient handouts are routine that can be prepared in advance.

What it does

What it does not do

The limits are set in advance

How much time it frees up

By our reviews, a nurse spends roughly 11 hours a week on the routine listed above — more than a third of the working week. The assistant does not take all of it: some tasks you will still be checking. But checking something finished is faster than doing it from scratch, and the gain lies in exactly that difference.

How it works

The assistant prepares materials and works through the routine without touching the substance. The limits are set in advance and firmly: where a specialist's qualification is needed, the assistant stops and passes the question to you.

What exactly the assistant takes off a nurse

A procedure log without rewriting it in the evening

Several dozen people pass through a treatment room in a shift. Each has to be recorded: who, what, at what time, batch number of the drug. The assistant takes short notes by voice or text right between patients — "Ivanova, intramuscular, ceftriaxone, batch such-and-such" — and by the end of the shift the log is filled in the required form. In the evening all that is left is to check and sign, not to reconstruct from memory who was third after lunch.

Preparation for a procedure the patient didn't know about

A patient turns up for a blood test having eaten, for an ultrasound with a full bladder at the wrong time. The day before, the assistant sends everyone in tomorrow's queue a guide for their specific procedure: what is allowed, what is not, when to come, what to bring. The number of wasted visits drops noticeably, and with it the number of explanations in the corridor.

The medication sheet: who has had what, who hasn't

On the ward every patient has their own set of orders by the hour. The assistant keeps the list for the shift: what is done, what is not yet, where the time is approaching. You mark the done items with a single word, the assistant rebuilds the queue and tells you that in twenty minutes room 4 has an IV drip. It prescribes and cancels nothing — it only tracks what the doctor ordered.

The shift report for the head nurse

At the end of the shift you need a summary: consumption of drugs and supplies, how many procedures, what ran out, what to order. The assistant compiles it from what you recorded during the day — without a separate hour with a calculator. You read it and send it.

What the dialogue looks like

You: Tomorrow: eight people for blood draws, three for abdominal ultrasound, two for gastroscopy.

Assistant: Guides sent: to the eight — "fasting, water allowed, intake from 8:00"; to the three for ultrasound — "no food for 8 hours, no gas-producing foods the day before"; to the two for gastroscopy — "last meal before 20:00, nothing to drink in the morning, bring a towel". One patient asks whether she can take her blood pressure tablet in the morning.

You: Tell her she can, with a sip of water.

Assistant: Passed on. All the other reminders are delivered and need no reply.

What we need from you at the start

Implementation timeline

Reviewing the tasks takes one conversation, setting up the forms two to three days. For a week the assistant keeps the log alongside your usual method so every entry can be checked. It makes sense to switch fully once two shifts in a row have passed without a single correction — usually the end of the second week.

Frequently asked questions

Voice notes in the treatment room — is that practical?
More practical than it seems: a short phrase between patients takes three seconds. If voice is inconvenient, the same notes can be typed from a phone — the assistant understands both.
What about patients' personal data?
You decide the amount of data. For a procedure log a surname and initials are usually enough; the full data stays in the institution's paper or electronic records.
Could the assistant remind me of an order and I still forget?
The assistant reminds you but does not carry out or mark anything as done by itself. Until you mark it, the order stays on the list and keeps appearing in reminders.
Does this need approval from the institution's management?
Usually yes, if the assistant will work with the ward's documents. We'll prepare a short description of what it does and what data it works with — handy to show the head nurse or the department head.
