Android and iOS app development: two smartphones on a windowsill in warm morning light

Mobile apps for Android and iOS — development cost

Turnkey mobile (Android/iOS) apps and desktop programs — from the idea and the design to a finished installer.

Updated: 20 September 2026

In short

Mobile app development at OM-Digital: an MVP of several screens from 15,000 ₽ and 2+ weeks, design of all screens and the icon from 4,000 ₽, backend and API from 6,000 ₽, AI inside the app from 5,000 ₽, changes to an existing app from 2,500 ₽. We publish to RuStore, Google Play and the App Store and hand over the source code. Our own apps — Doctor AI, Dercy, Learn Claude AI — are already in the stores.

Let us take it in order

What an app costs and what the price is made of

“How much does app development cost?” is the first question people ask, and rightly so: an app costs more than a website, and you need a sense of the numbers before you order anything. The straight answer is that the cost depends not on the number of screens but on what happens behind them. A to-do list with no accounts and no server is one job. An app with user accounts, payment and an admin panel is another entirely, and the price differs several times over between the two.

What makes up the cost of app development

We price it in four parts and quote each as a separate line, so you can see what you are paying for:

So we answer “how much does app development cost” with an estimate rather than a single number: an MVP from ₽15,000 (≈ $178), improving an existing app from ₽5,000 (≈ $59), adding AI inside from ₽5,000 (≈ $59), backend and API from ₽6,000 (≈ $71). The exact figure is agreed before the work starts, not afterwards.

Android and iOS apps: what the job includes

We build Android and iOS apps end to end: you get a finished working product rather than a pile of files — task analysis, screen design, the build, testing on a real device, publication and documentation. Custom app development always starts with a conversation about the one action the user will perform most often; the interface is built around it. All source code and developer accounts are registered in your name.

Android, iOS and desktop

Android development is the most common request in Russia, and that is where we start: publishing to RuStore is simpler, the audience is wider and testing the idea is cheaper. iOS development follows on the same codebase, with no rewriting from scratch — we work with Flutter. In our estimates, “mobile app development” always means the same thing: phone and tablet, both platforms, one project. If you need a program for a computer, we will build a Windows desktop version from ₽12,000 (≈ $142).

Apps for business

Business app development differs from a consumer app in having a measurable goal: cut the time an enquiry takes, get rid of paper forms, give the customer an account instead of phoning a manager. We start by working out how much time and money the current process eats, and only then propose screens. If a bot or a website solves the problem more cheaply, we will say so plainly rather than sell an app for the sake of an app.

Who to order this from

Mobile development companies mostly fall into two types: large studios with budgets starting at half a million, and lone contractors who vanish halfway through the project. Most people searching for a developer are looking for something in between: someone who works responsibly, shows intermediate versions and does not ask for a corporate budget. That is exactly the niche we work in — a small team, a fixed estimate, delivery in stages, and communication in writing only, so every agreement stays on record.

Where to start

Write two sentences about what the app should do and who it is for. That is enough for us to send an estimate and a deadline. Our first app, Doctor AI, is published on RuStore — you can download it and see how we work before making any decision.

Turnkey mobile app development: sketches of the app screens in a notebook
An app outlives a website and needs a different build discipline: stores, updates and signing keys.

What is included

Turnkey mobile app

From the idea and the brief to a finished APK or installer: screens, logic, server connection and external services.

Desktop program

Windows programs built for your task — from simple utilities to full tools with their own interface.

App UI/UX design

Considered screens, a consistent style, light and dark themes and an app icon — all in one visual language.

AI integration (ChatGPT/Claude)

Building AI into the app itself: handling user requests, analysing text and images, ready answers.

Backend and API

A backend for storing user data, authentication and syncing between devices — if the app needs one.

Improving an existing app

New features, a redesign or bug fixes in an app that already works — without rewriting everything from scratch.

Already built by us

Three of our own apps are published on RuStore and install in one click — we go through store review ourselves, so we know its requirements from practice rather than from a manual.

🩺

Doctor AI — a mobile app built with Flutter

An Android app with AI symptom analysis, a consultation history, three switchable themes and a connection to our own server. Published on RuStore. Details and download →

🎓

Claude AI Learning — a course app

Four courses and 70 lessons on working with AI, plus a Claude chat inside the app. Lessons open without an internet connection. Published on RuStore. Details and download →

🐕

Dercy — a dog trainer in your pocket

An offline app about dogs: behaviour psychology, 25 commands step by step, breed matching, a vaccination diary and reminders. Works without internet and without registration; all data stays on the phone. Published on RuStore. Details and download →

🎓

AI Teacher Bot — a Telegram learning bot

A step-by-step course inside Telegram with several difficulty levels, progress tracking and payment built in.

How much a mobile app costs

How much a mobile app costs cannot be answered with one number until it is clear what the app does. Ten screens of lists and an app with user accounts, payment and syncing are different months of work. We build the estimate from the screens and from whether a backend of your own is needed.

Mobile development starts not with design but with the question of what a person should manage to do in the first minute after installing. The answer decides both the number of screens and whether a server of your own is needed: a catalogue that reads a ready feed from the website costs noticeably less than an app with accounts and payment inside.

Frequently asked questions

How much does app development cost and what drives the price?

The price depends not on the number of screens but on what the app does. A showcase with a catalogue and an enquiry form costs noticeably less than an app with user accounts, payment and a backend. We quote after a short review of the task and fix the price before work begins, rather than “refining it as we go”.

Will the app be on Google Play and RuStore?

Yes — we publish to the stores and take the app through review. That stage is often underestimated: it takes time and requires changes to meet each store's rules. The developer account is registered in your name: the app should belong to you, not to the contractor.

What if the store rejects the app?

We fix it and resubmit; that is part of the job. Rejection on first submission is routine: most often they ask you to clarify the privacy policy, the description of permissions or the age rating. We have been through this with our own apps, so the usual causes are dealt with in advance.

Who owns the source code?

You do. The source is handed over at delivery together with build instructions. This matters on principle: without the source code, any further development ties you to a single contractor for good, and we do not create that kind of dependency.

Is support needed after delivery, and what does it cost?

Small fixes after delivery are free. Ongoing support is a separate arrangement, and we will tell you plainly if you do not need it: a simple app without a backend has nothing to support. Updates for new versions of Android and iOS are discussed separately, when those versions appear.

Can AI be built into the app?

Yes, and it is one of our most common jobs: we connect ChatGPT or Claude through the backend so that the keys never sit inside the app where they could be extracted. We work out the cost of processing requests in advance — AI services charge by volume, and that is worth understanding before launch rather than after the first invoice.
